Happy birthday wishes to the first ever uploaded youtube video.  Youtube.com officially started on a valentine’s day in 2005, it took almost 2 months for the first video to be uploaded on April 23rd, 2005. The 19sec video titled, “Me at Zoo” was shot by Yakov Lapitsky at the San Diego Zoo.  The video shows one of YouTube’s founders, Jawed Karim at the Zoo.  It has been 5 years today since this first uploaded video, with several thousands of videos uploaded each day now.

YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim, who were all early employees of PayPal in 2005. In November 2006, YouTube, LLC was bought by Google Inc. for $1.65 billion, and is now operating as a subsidiary of Google.
